College Baseball Recruiting Exposure

The Montana Scout Team is a new and innovative effort to provide fall exposure for Montana baseball athletes with the skills and desire to play at the next level in college. We will showcase talented players directly to college baseball coaches during Fall 2026 through competition with junior college (JUCO) programs and a key showcase event.

Here’s what you need to know about the Montana Scout Team and how to compete for a roster spot!

• Eligibility: Participation is open to all Montana athletes from high school, American Legion, and/or club baseball programs. This fall’s team will be Class of 2027 (and possibly extremely talented Class of 2028) athletes.
• Player Evaluation Process: We are building an invite-only 15- to 18-player roster through an intensive, objective, and data-driven player evaluation process conducted from March-May 2026. Roster selections will be based on skills assessments from high school and summer team coaches, verified performance metrics, 2025 statistics and accolades, 2026 high school statistics, skills demonstrated in a combine, and positional needs.
• Timeline: We are accepting player recommendations now from coaches and instructors, and evaluations will occur through May 31. Roster selections will be made by June 15.  .

• JUCO Competition: We will play 4-5 weekends against JUCO programs from the Northwest Athletic Conference and MonDak Conference in Sept-Oct at their home ballparks, including Treasure Valley CC, Big Bend CC, and others.
• Showcase: The team also has an invitation to the Denver Slammers Labor Day tournament, a heavily recruited showcase event.

• Colton Little: Played at Colorado Mesa University, a D-2 powerhouse, four-year starter, two-time All-RMAC selection; coaching experience with Denver Slammers and Arizona Diamondbacks Fall Scout Team.
• Dylan Spacke: Played at D-1 Long Beach State University as a three-year pitcher; 2019 MLB draft pick, played four years in the Boston Red Sox organization, advancing to the Double-A level. 

• Cost: TBD ($1,500 or less player fee). Travel is responsibility of player’s family.
• Metrics: Verified metrics will be helpful to players in the roster selection process and can be obtained, if needed, at a Combine to be held in Missoula on May 30-31.

We are accepting recommendations by high school, American Legion, and/or club team coaches or personal baseball instructors. We expect 40-50 potential players to be identified prior to the start of the high school season.
